Tzu Chi is a non-profit religious charity organization. It has over four million supporters worldwide. The global headquarters for Tzu Chi still remains in its origin of Hualien, Taiwan. In the United States, there are 6 Tzu Chi Chapters with a total of 49 offices across the country. A heart filled with kindness, compassion, joy and unselfish giving inspires the ideals of Tzu Chi. For over 30 years Tzu Chi has concentrated its missions in Charity, Medicine, Education and Culture. Over the decades, Tzu Chi has expanded its activities to include bone marrow donation, international relief, environmental conservation, and community volunteers.
As Tzu Ching (Tzu Chi collegiate group, abbreviated as TC) in other continents are carrying out Tzu Chi’s missions and expanding rapidly, TC groups in the US also continue to develop and grow. Seattle TC group first started in 1996. During Fall of 2000, UWTC Chapter in University of Washington campus was established. The main motivation of this group is to introduce Tzu Chi to more young adults. We encourage them to care for others and go into our community to help the needy. From the charity work we can develop a noble character and a sound mind.
