First a bit of a Bio...
I moved to Los Angeles from Germany in the 1980s. In Europe I obtained a degree in education, as well as in geography and social sciences.
In the USA, I have been working lending worldwide educational support to community-based self-help efforts for substance abuse. My studies and humanitarian work have taken me to numerous places in Europe and Asia. I have also been working as a linguist in subtitling for films.
As a photographer my focus is on diversity of cultures and observing people absorbed in their culture-specific or in universally understood daily activities. I have traveled in most parts of Europe, as well as around Asia and the Middle East, including Cambodia, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Japan, Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Cuba, Bangladesh and many more. I visited Bali repeatedly during 2002-2004 and did photographic studies and journaled family life and religious events while living in a Balinese village for several months. In the USA, I often cover cultural events in Southern California, incl. musical and other visual arts performances from around the world.
Work-in-Progress: a Vision for Life
I'm a person with a passion for learning about people and our planet. Where I can have impact, I hope to contribute to raising awareness and the quality of life.
I seek to be in partnership with like-minded people who are guided by spiritual principles, social conscience and love for nature and the arts. Seeing myself as a witness, I travel around the world with my camera seeking to promote awareness and a sense of connection.
Spiritual practices fascinate and inspire me, and over the years I have become a spiritual mutt in a sense: I'm into Zen meditation and had a teacher with Sufi leanings, and I go to a neighborhood Vedanta Ashram.... Add to that occasional yoga, Native American nature reverence, and Islamic prayer beads and I have what works for me. I seek to keep the practice of spiritual principles at the center of my life, and grow in serenity, loving-kindness and selfless service.
My dream is to publish a series of photographic ‘storybooks’ The working title might be something like “Weltenbummler— the Unhurried Seeker”, and I'd journal specific universally common as well as uncommon themes and moments in anecdotes and images.
