More of a point-and-shoot photo-diarist than an artist, but I enjoy the process of photography, including the everyday and the spontaneous "found" shot. My photostream is an amalgam of my daily life, my friends and family and my various travels around the world (never too exotic). I love photographing natural beauty as much as the urban grit and vibrancy of my hometown, NYC. To see something interesting, shoot it, and share it. It's an amazing thing!
I shoot mostly with a Canon Rebel 60D DSLR. My general "walk around" lens is the "nifty fifty" f1.8. I find that harking back to my original days with a basic film SLR, I am very comfortable with a simple prime lens.
Update 4-27-16
I hit one million views on my photos today!
I've been on Flickr since September of 2006, so that averages around 283 views per day, or 8,621 views per month.
Update 8-15-13
I've recently begun posting scans of old photos that a friend of mine picked up at an estate sale in AZ. The photographer seems to have been quite the railfan and he has dozens of really great vintage shots of trains and trolleys from all around the world and across the U.S. I thought about opening up a new account, just to post the found photos, but then decided to keep it all together.
The real reason for my current scanning craze is that I finally got around to picking up a good flatbed scanner. I got a Canon 9000F Mk II and so far, I'm really liking the results.
Update 5-24-13
I join the vast majority of other Flickr members who are voicing their very strong objections to this poorly designed and executed "upgrade". If you have yet to voice your outrage, do so on the help forums.
Update 1-6-12
I feel lost! I've been without a camera for nearly a month now!
I gave up my old camera in anticipation of getting a new one and the whole process got screwed up and so I am still sans the new one.
According to FedEx, my brand new Canon 60D should be arriving next Tuesday! I can't wait.
Update 9-28-11
Just realized I hadn't posted any updates since more than a year ago.
Just got back from a vacation out west and I'm posting photos from that trip now. Looking forward to cooler weather and the NYC Marathon in a few weeks.
Update 9-11-10
Spending the day, remembering nine years ago. I will be going down to Brooklyn tonight, hopefully to capture the lights tribute.
Update 12-18-09
As a Xmas present to myself (since I would never expect anyone to give me such an extravagant gift!), I got myself a brand new Canon 70-200mm f4 L lens and a new Crumpler Eight Million Dollar Home bag to carry it in. Can't wait to take it out shooting, maybe this weekend!
Update 11-09-09
I've started putting up photos from the Marathon of the "regular" runners. If anyone sees someone they recognize (including themselves) please don't be shy about letting me know in the comments. I might even add them as a person on the photo! Thanks.
Update 11-02-09
I took a ton of photos during the NYC Marathon yesterday (Nov 1). It will take time to go through them all, crop and adjust them, but I will be adding my good shots over the next few days and maybe even weeks.
Update 03-2009
Thanks to everyone who have either favorited or commented on any of my photos. It's very much appreciated.
Generally, I don't respond to comments, unless they're direct questions. It seems too much like self-promotion to me, and I'd much rather simply allow the pictures to stand for themselves. Please don't be offended if I don't respond and know that I am grateful for all of your kind words.
