United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) was established in July 2010 and has its offices in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. UNOAU plays a critical role as the main UN facilitator in nurturing and promoting the UN-AU strategic partnership in peace and security as outlined in the Joint Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security signed in 2017 at UN Headquarters (NY) by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and AU Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat.
