PRETTY MUCH MOVED OVER HERE - NEW ACCOUNT!
I'm a few months behind on photos, but hope to be back on pace shortly. It's actually quite surreal to be uploading photos from the time when I wasn't at all interested in the photography aspects of... umm... picture taking. Perhaps I ought to say technical aspects.
I am a university student who spent a year studying language, history, and culture in Italy. I collect church doors, interesting windows, fountains, towers, and graffiti. I've visited all the regions and provinces of Italy.
All in all, I would say I'm a person who takes photographs, not a photographer. There are few better playgrounds for someone who likes architecture than Italy and I think I've improved quite a bit in the past year or so. Although I resisted for a long time, I've begun to start posting my Photoshopped images. Since I have a "design background," so to speak, I tend to be better at coaxing out the good in photos with a program than with my lens. So it goes.
I miss Europe, Italy, and soprattutto Bologna more than I know how to express in words and like to regard my time stateside as temporary exile.
I have three Canon cameras: Baby, a PowerShot SD300, Mostro, a EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and Bubba, an EOS Rebel S. I grew up on various ELPHs, so I suppose I have a heritage of Canon. I've also got a lovely Nikon FG I call Fugu, but I don't shoot him very often. Student budget and all makes film a bit difficult to purchase. The last piece of the puzzle is my Betty, a Holga 135BC. I named her after Betty Draper. It doesn't make sense to me either.
Where lenses are concerned:
Canon EF-S 18-55/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Canon EF 35-105/4.5-5.6
Nikon Series E 50mm f/1.8
Vivitar S1 28-105mm
I've been on a bit of a shopping rampage over the past week (lots of money that's just been sitting in my paypal account + pay from jury duty = free money. ish.) and have managed to come up for air, four new cameras in tow. The first is Kino (in honor of Vertov, actually.), a Demekin. I'm quite looking forward to doing some random street shots with that one. Then I bought a Duaflex II for some real TTV lovin' - at last! - that I'm calling Bobble (for Puzzle Bobble, of course!). My next purchase was a Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim, named Viviane (pronouned Vivi-ann), who can sit with Betty. Finally, I got a fantastic Rolleicord IIb (I have always had a thing for TLRs) since I can't afford a Rolleiflex (but how much fun is this one?)... being ridiculous ridiculous, his name is Orlando Vittorio, Duca d'Arezzo. I swear I wasn't high when I made that up.
