Hi, my name is Dan.

I’m a writer, photographer, and educator, originally from Los Angeles, but recently relocated to Taipei, Taiwan.

I’ve spent 25 years in education, learned Mandarin Chinese along the way, and developed a habit of wandering — Taiwan, Tokyo, Thailand... that corner of the world grabbed my curiosity from a young age. At some point in my 40s I realized the life I wanted was still available. My current journey is finding out if that’s true.

I write essays about creativity, risk, and what it looks like to quietly blow up your life in middle age to build a better one. I also shoot photography of wherever I happen to be at the moment.
