Greg Stevenson
Drag to set position!
I’m a proud Uncle to my three nieces (Kaitlin, Tori and Beth) and recently got to live out a life wish of going to Disney World with them.
My enthusiasm for photography started in the early 80’s while I was in University (for Business…whoops). It seemed I spent more time hanging out at the University newspaper than in the Business department so they did what any good rag would do. They made me photo editor. In actual fact, they made me “photo everything”. All assignments, editing, layout, etc fell to me. After countless “12 assignment days” when we would go to press that night, I was completely addicted to photojournalism.
I had the great fortune of a career with Canada’s national news agency, The Canadian Press. Duties included assignment and studio photography, photo research for various publications, Assignment Coordinator for commercial photo shoots across Canada, stock photography, sales, and getting to freelance anything the senior staffers handed off such as concert photography and sporting events. Basically it was a dream job for a young photo enthusiast. Just thinking about the cabinets full of Nikon gear waiting to be taken for a spin each day still makes me all misty.
In a move of epic stupidity, I took a buyout package after a 14 year career with CP and didn’t really touch a camera again until purchasing my first digital SLR (Nikon D90) in 2009.
Now begins the journey of finding my passion for photography once again. Watch your head‘n’step.
