My Photography Habit has, since I discovered flickr, become an 'Obsession with flickr' (according to my family).

My Equipment

Primary:

Nikon D60 c/w 18-55 (and 50-200) (sturdy and reliable - a good workhorse)

Secondary: 1.

Canon Powershot A 540 (it eats batteries but it's got a viewfinder and it takes good images for an old 6.0 Mp with a 4X Zoom)

Secondary : 2

Lumix TZ20 (it's just too clever for its own good)

Tertiary:

Nikon S3100 (handy pocket cam but a lot of the time requires flash as it's no good in bad light or if any movement)

Tripod:

75-2 (it's so old I don't know what make it is but it's still sturdy and reliable)

Monopod:

Valbon UP-400 (good at what it does, but limiting - good indoors with the S3100 to reduce movement)

Scanner: (edit 2016)

Canon MG7751, relatively high definition for a Scanner Copier.

Camera Phone : (edit 2015):

iphone 5s 16Gb Good for quick and dirty, ad-hoc snaps, but loses clarity on zoom, exposure adjustment good.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Computer:

iMac 24" (early 2009) with OS X (edit nov 2016) 10.11.6

Programs:

Great Photo Pro, HDR Darkroom 2 Pro, Flare, SnapHeal, ColorStrokes, Photo Effect Studio Pro, Camera Bag, Live Quartz, Hugin - in order of importance; plus others.

* A note concerning Intellectual Property, please feel free to share this:

With some recent events concerning people stealing others' intellectual property in the form of photography, I just want to put this out there. I've posted my photos here because I'm PROUD to show my work for others who APPRECIATE art to see. I love looking at all of your images too, and have gotten some wonderful ideas from it. I would never dream of copying and pasting anyone else's work and claiming it as my own. It's extremely shameful and disgusting. It's one of the highest forms of disrespect, not to mention illegal. I hope no one ever does this to my work. It would not be difficult to do- anyone could download my image, have it printed, enter it in a photo contest (or something) and make money off of it. And I'd never know. Honesty is the best policy here. Any respectable photographer knows this respect for others and will always reciprocate. I've helped other photographers by informing them of their images being shared illegally and I'd hope others would do the same for me if it happens. Thank you to all TRUE ARTISTS who appreciate the hard work of others... after all, AN ARTIST DOES NOT WORK FOR FREE! There is a lot of time, education, and equipment we've all paid for to create this art!

As you can see from looking at this page and his Photostream, Jim Goodyear is a highly accomplished photographer with a large body of very impressive work. But I want to call attention to another of his strengths . I was introduced to Jim through the the comments he made about photos I have posted to Flickr. Like every other photographer I know, I love nothing better than when someone writes or talks favorably about my photos. But Jim is that rare individual who actually looks carefully at other photographers' works, really thinks about them, and then comments in a way that is both incisive, persuasive, and constructive. So thank you Jim both for your own marvelous photographs and also for your willingness to spend time helping me to improve mine.
