I started getting into photography as soon as I could observe, ever since I can remember I have always looked at everything in a photographic way. Like stolen moments I see subjects out of the corner of my eye and wish I could take a snap of them. Detached from my visual field, and stored in my memory inside my head.
Over the years I have tried to take pictures, which tell a story, they might not be of the most traditional of subjects but I like to think that all the items and moments in this mad world we live in have beauty and interest.
An internal battle rages inside of me the majority of the time, I try my best to take the type of pictures that I think others would like to see (for example, that beautiful landscape you've seen a thousand times) or as I really want to, just capture those pieces of time and space which pass instantly and are gone moments later.
I mean the things we take for granted and we don't often notice how they are all beautiful too. In the end when we think about the main use of photography we think about it being a memory capture, a way of saying 'I was there', 'I did that', 'I was with them'. I'd rather it was 'you never noticed that' 'that passed you by' 'you use this and never noticed how it is shaped and what shadow it creates'. The things that make us human beings is the stuff that we don't see, things that we pass by. We won't be able to reclaim this memory, hidden deep within our subconscious. Hopefully I'll go some way to stop that. Remember that wonder is omnipotent.
Something I also am interested in is praise - I have from an early age always sought it out and hardly found it. It drives me mad sometimes and doesn't really help me live a life I am sure I would be able to without that voice inside. I have wondered for a while whether perhaps flickr is not completely good for this. I look for perfection in all I do, and when I feel that is not achieved I can get quite dejected. I wish I could stop it, but I can't. I’m not sure why I am saying all this when basically what I want to say is if you have time and have something to say about any of my photos then please do! Thanks. Oh and thanks for reading all this as well.
I am slowly trying to build my own Website, which you can find here at the moment this just acts as a black hole device to get you back to my flickr site, but is a good way at looking at a vast array of shots.
If you are interested in using any of the photos that you see, then please drop me an e-mail – either through flickr or via my site as detailed above. I’m pretty much chained to the rat race, and hate working in normal circumstances – so any opportunity to enjoy and take photos and possibly pay the bills would be greatly, amazingly appreciated.
Keep on looking.
