2024: Settled this winter as I'm the chair of a local community board. We will be heading out in February for a few weeks along the Oregon Coast. Oh, well. Looks like the end game is coming sooner than expected. I hoped to make it for my 71st. birthday but pancreatic cancer has other ideas. I'm getting a lot of friends and family deciding a few days in the PNW is a good idea and stopping by to say farewell. It's been a good life. This ending is remarkable and I'm very thankful.

2023: Starting the year off with a 6 week road trip to the SW. That evolved into a re-purchase of our Sprinter which we sold five years ago. And that meant a 4000 mile road trip to bring it home.

2022 looked promising in early January, but let's face it, the option of WWIII doesn't make this year any better than the past two. So, we're going to have fun on the road....

2021/2020: Life during the plague means less travel, though we've managed to spend time in remote forests.

Fall, 2019: The new Cabin on the Road -- 2013 GMC with a Capri Retreat to match -- has had just over a year of 1-3 week adventures in the PNW and California. We've become comfortable with our new home and town. The mostly-settled life is pretty nice.

Summer 2018: Settling in to our home after a 3.5 year road trip around North America in a Sportsmobile Van. During that time, #Vanlife became a life-style and we were riding the crest. Now, it's time to find out more about the Olympic Peninsula, and Port Townsend/Chimacum.

Spring 2018: Back in Port Townsend for a month or so, then off to Vancouver Island for some much needed spring kayaking. The Sportsmobile sold in a week of our return and we are now thinking about what comes next.

Fall 2017: We're headed back to New Mexico, but this time in the southern part of the state. Our route will follow Hot Springs along the east side of the Cascades/Sierras, then looking for more in Death Valley before spending a month in Faywood Hot Spring, NM. We will stay in the high desert through February of 2018 then head back to the Pacific Northwest.

Fall 2016: After a summer in Europe we ended up in the Four Corners where we have been learning about the Pre-Puebloan and Chacoan culture and visiting the remnants of the great houses.

We are on a four-year road trip around North America. Beginning in Juneau, Alaska and taking us across Canada to the NWT, Labrador, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Fall 2015 will move us south along the US east coast where we will spend a few months in North Carolina. We've been kayaking and backpacking using tarps and bivies for a long time, so the luxury of a Sportsmobile Sprinter Van is a novelty.

The Sprinter is called the Cabin.
