Almost a year ago SaffyUK Wala told me about this active guy and to patch up with Umair for out door activities. Of course with by busy internet life I never got time for that. Umair was present on pakistani’s trekking group but again we failed to have a direct communication. This summer after I returned from Iran, Saffy got me connected to Umair to help him with some tips for his travel to Iran. After few hasty emails I was saying goodbye to Umair who was to cross Afghanistan to arrive at Iran all alone. Quite a risk it was, “Quite a brave guy” I said to myself. Couple of weeks later I got an email from Umair who has returned to back alive. So we were both eager now to sit down and talk about our experiences and of course I was so curious has how did he managed traveling through Afghanistan all alone. February 2007 we were finally able to get together for a rock climbing adventure at Islamabad which turned out to be a bad weather day. But we spent the day together talking about traveling, outdoors and almost everything one could think about. Unlike many adventurer type he is very humble and soft person. You will find him polite, smart, soft-spoken, knowledgeable and organized. He is very passionate about traveling, hiking and out door activities, he has a lot of knowledge of things and places. He certainly has the abilities to lead through his motivational and organizing skills while many others would try to lead by being autocratic. What a fine young man he is. I am glad I have met him and have become friends.
