I work in Air traffic control (chief controller) for Belgocontrol the semi-private firm that is responsible for ATC over Belgium and part of Luxemburg; I would very much like to drop out of that job and live of my photography.

I came back to my first love when I bought the Nikon D70. That camera stunned me with the possibilities it offered me and I started to fall in love again. Years ago, I droppeds out of it because I could not get the pictures I wanted.

Now I'm equipped with Nikon cameras and Nikkor lenses, mostly prime lenses. I have 3 zooms: a wide angle, a transtandard and the 70-200mm VR.

I don't like zooms, why ? Simple, or maybe not that simple ! First, a zoom is an easy way out, and nothing worth having or doing should be easy. Second, a zoom is good at nothing because to produce a zoom (even the very good ones) you have to compromise and with each compromise the engineers do the general quality of the lens will decrease and therefore, it will never be as good as a prime lens of equivalent engineering manufacture. Third, when using a zoom, you don't need to move anymore to get a good shot, you just need to reduce or increase the focal lenght, and thus little by little you settle for good shots and stop moving to get a great shot. As I said earlier, easy ... And last but not least, no zoom could work at f:1,8 or lower and in concert that means using a flash, and I really hate using a flash in a concert or spectacle for many reasons.
