Hi my name is Ulrich Burkhalter

I was born and raised in Switzerland in the Jura Mountains. I currently live in Salem, Oregon USA.

I'm married to a wonderful lady from Salem, Oregon. So I also spend a lot of time in the Oregon wilderness.

My main interested in nature, macro, wildlife, landscape, cityscape, outdoor activities and travel photography.

Like everybody else, I have a dream camera that I don't have............

I started out in October 2005 in digital photography. Before that I used a Pentax SLR 35 mm and I had my own dark room. I love digital because I can work on the pictures next to a roaring fire in my fire place. No bad smell in the dark..... But all the good principle of 35mm photography still applies to the digital cameras. My first attempt on these galleries showed me right of the bat that I still need to install my camera on top of a tripod or monopod. Post sharpening does wonder but it is still much better to start out with the sharpest picture. A tripod will slow me down so I will have more time to open my eyes and see more.

Besides Photography I like to do woodcarving, building small simple row boats and kayaks. I love everything with water mostly waterfalls and lake sunsets.

I hope to share Gods beautiful creation with as many people as possible with my photography.

Also I love to take people out into the outdoor and wilderness for them to experience it too.

God is the power of my life. Especially when my own puny plans fail........ He knows so much more.

I do not participate in all of the "award" giving that some groups give out, nor do I give "template" comments. When I do comment on a photo, I try to use my own words and provide input if applicable.

I greatly appreciate visits and comments, but will likely delete awards, badges and comments with solicitations to view, comment or fave someones stuff. Though I am flattered by invitations to post my photos to groups, I avoid groups with lots of awards, badges and obligations to hand them out when you post a photo. Nothing personal, just not my cup of tea.
