I recently was introduced to photography (in a formalized way) by Ully via a course that he teaches for the Halifax recreation department. Ully's experience and passion for photography were certainly evident in the way he was able to convey both the art and science of making (not "taking") pictures. Ully was always approachable, both inside and outside the classroom, which contributed to the high level of camaraderie that developed among the students in the class - which I'm sure will continue well beyond the end of the course. If you get a chance to work with Ully, take it.
