These are images of people, events, and life around the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The University was founded in 1831; the independent art department came into being by 1943. Today we are located in the heart of the historic campus, in Woods Hall (1867-68), Garland Hall (1888), and in two Bureau of Mines buildings. Garland Hall houses the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art; Woods Hall the Sella-Granata Art Gallery. Downtown the Paul R. Jones Museum is at 2308 Sixth Street and The University of Alabama Gallery is in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center at 620 Greensboro Avenue. Unless otherwise noted, all photos are by Rachel Dobson.
