Three words. That is what Tyson asks from each of his [human] portrait subjects. Three words that convey how they aspire to connect with others. I've chosen mine, but now I'd like to choose another three that define what draws me into Tyson's work. Immersive. Textured. Portal. I’ve always been captivated by Tyson’s ability to capture the subtlest of moments to tell a deeper, often questioning, story of the larger whole. First drawn in his abstract expressionist work, I admire how the devotion to his discipline is apparent in all his work, whether art or editorial or portrait. Each subject is approached with undivided attention. Each photograph, a portal beyond the habitually mundane.

When describing Tyson, one word immediately comes to mind. Visionary. Tyson has the ability to capture some of the greatest things in his photography. It is as if he is able to see into our souls and show the world what we are feeling. It is not very often that a work of art conjures emotion but, when it does, you know that there is some truly magical about it. I am proud to know Tyson and look forward to his pieces to come.
