Regarding my abstract photography,

Something I was taught in a drawing class many years ago when presented with a table to draw has stuck with me literally and metaphorically: "Don't draw the idea of a table. Draw what you see. Find light, shapes, colors. Ignore ideas, concepts, and named things."

(Paraphrasing my teacher and abstract artist Philip Petrie.)

In addition to an interest in art, I write short and long fiction, am the founding editor of Small Print Magazine, and try to laugh--or is it cry?--at our absurd condition.
