Howdy!

Welcome to my corner of the world! :-)

Here is just a little bit about me...

I am basically a Jack of all trades, and Master at a several! ;-) I have been in IT for a LONG time but I am also a musician, geek, photographer, woodworker, pilot, and several other things all rolled into one. I am definitely the type of person that likes to think outside the box that is outside the box!

I have been into photography and have had a camera in my hands every since I was young but really only managed to get lucky with some good shots here and there. Photography has been a passion for a long time and I have focused on improving my technique and skills for several years now. As with everything, there is always something to learn and I enjoy learning new things every chance I get! Taking photos and even teaching photography to others are among a few of the things that I love doing most! Light Painting Photography, macros, Landscapes, and portrait photography are areas that I have dove into the deepest but there are others areas of photography that I am learning more about as well.

I have started selling most of my images along with some standard stock photos through stock photography sites so if you are interested in purchasing any of my work at really cheap rate, please visit my gallery on ShutterStock or some of the other most popular Stock Photo sites.

Light Painting Photography is actually more of an addiction or passion of mine because to me, it is much more of a challenge than standard photography is and it allows for much more artistic freedom. It also helps to satisfy the geek and inventor side of me and I have invented some really cool light tools in the process of it all. I have been on a mission for several years to teach others about this very unique and challenging form of art and basically just getting the word out about what Light Painting is. I have written an eBook on Light Painting and it is available for those that are interested. It is called "LIGHT PAINTING PHOTOGRAPHY - A Complete How To Guide for Beginners". This book is primarily for those that have no previous photography skills whatsoever or simply would just like to know more about the art of Light Painting Photography! You can find out more about the book on my website.

You will find photos of my Light Painting Tools HERE!

Please feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think about my photos. I am always looking for ways to improve or other points of view. :-)

Please do not copy or use any photo without express written permission from myself to do so.

My son (Cameron) has also dabbled in Light painting and general photography as well. Please check out his Flickr stream also located here.

I would like to recognize the following artists for their incredibly wonderful work in Light Painting and being a source of inspiration and support for me as well. (And these not in any particular order by any means! They are all tops in my book!) :-) Please visit their photostreams as well! :-)

What can I say... Michael Ross is a mad man with a passion to light up the night with an arsenal of lights. Probably one of THE most technical and innovative light painters out there! I have had the pleasure of shooting with Mike 3 times, and each time he has more and more exiting gear to show off. Mike truly is a vital element to the light painting community. I was thrilled to see him open up the 1st LP store! Somebody had to do it, and I'm glad it was Mike who pulled the trigger. I will never forget the trip we took to Matagorda bay to shoot with Jake Ramirez. Not only did Mike pick me up in his plane, he let me fly it!!! It was the most unforgettable, epic LP meet ever! I hope I get the chance to run into him again. A man full of fresh ideas, and even fresher light tools. Tip of the hat to you Mike. Shine on you crazy diamond! -Andy

I remember first seeing Mike's photos and wondering why I hadn't run across his work earlier. I rarely take the time to look through an entire stream, but I was hooked after a few pages and couldn't stop. It didn't take long to realize I had found in him a kindred spirit. Since then I have marveled at Mike's inventiveness and creative genius, as well as his willingness to share techniques. His contributions to the light painting community cannot be overestimated. Some of the most enchanting LP images, countless tutorials, innovative new tools, many, many helpful group discussion contributions, the list goes on. I hope you will join me in wishing Mike the best of luck in his new endeavors, which lucky for us are now solely devoted to advancing light painting and fine photography!

Wow, where do I begin? Mr. Mike is SO helpful! He is helping me get started in light painting. And that is really hard, considering how slow I can be at some times! Now, onto this work. I am in AWE! One of the most energetic, inspirational, compassionate, and positive people that I’ve ever met! Mike is blitzing it with all facets of his photography! He doesn’t do things by halves, and anything he turns his hand to shows extraordinary care to all details. His light painting gadgets are nothing short of brilliant, with an end result that leaves the viewer sitting there staring in awe. His willingness to share and inspire, and lead by example, really paves the way in uniting the light painting community, and promoting light painting as an art form. I’m very honoured to call Mike a friend, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next :o)

He is a problem solver and extraordinary photographer. His ingenuity sets him aside from most. I can't wait to see what Mike creates in his photographs in the future. He gives us all something to think about when it comes to light painting and how limitless this form of art is. You are a super friend Mike and I'm extremely thankful I had the pleasure of meeting you!
