As an artist, her persona is projected through her work. She has seen the underworld, yet, she comes out of it, and can be such a sweet sweet person with a heart as big as they can come. Just behold her work, and you shall see. Look past all the sufferings that is prevalent in her work... and you will often see a glimmer of hope of some kind. I love her stuff. There are too many inflated egomaniacs in the world who boast about themselves, saying that they're tough, resilient, courageous; but few can actually take the heat, pull their weight, face the music. I have seen many women photographers here on flickr boldly post images of themselves that some would (and have) consider scandalous, in bad taste, or just downright pornographic - but a chunk of the general viewing audience is comprised mainly of the small, nimble-minded and fearful. They're also the self-righteous windbags who troll for porn, drink their faces off and beat their kids. Women who are able to stand firm to their convictions without being crushed by public scrutiny, to stand their ground for their ideas, visions, and identities are the real heroes, the truly courageous ones. Zoe is not only an extremely talented photographer, she is beautiful, smart, eloquent, but has also taken an incredible step in turning the camera onto herself and her broken body - using photography as a healing tool and to help others understand that beauty is not always skin deep.
