I'll say it quickly in case lightning strikes or aliens take me elsewhere... Theunis Viljoen is a genius, a Zen Master. Tootling around the planet in a luxurious vintage motor car, walnut dash and leather seats, I have finally seen it all or certainly a great slice of it by way of superb photography and a hugely creative oeuvre. I truly feel I have been globetrotting and sightseeing in great company and style. There's been no rush though, and certainly nothing crass or dross, Theunis' secrets and methods have been revealed to me in a calm mindful way with priceless insights into trade tricks and magic. It's accurate to say Mr Viljoen is a bona fide creative with many things to say and many things already said; he notices art everywhere in nature, geometry, people, places, life and other nooks and crannies and shares it prodigiously. His technique, is now embedded in his unique d.n.a. - he spots something vital and worthy of interpretation and points and shoots immediately. A precise marksman at work with no time or resources wasted Theunis' quality control and variety of styles and subjects is frankly mind-bending: kaleidoscopic and uber-inspirational. As a passionate hobbyist and creative myself I know a bit - albeit most of it intangible - and with the gravitas of patient curating and 52 years of autodidacticism I feel very confident in saying this is one of the finest collections of photo images I have ever encountered.
