[PLEASE NOTE; I DO NOT JOIN GROUPS WHERE A CONDITION OF JOINING IS TO COMMENT ON OTHER IMAGES EVERY TIME YOU ADD A PICTURE]

PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OF MY IMAGES FOR ANY PUBLICATION OR WEBSITE {Including for personal use} WITHOUT ASKING FIRST

I am usually quite happy for images to be used for charity and non-profit publications and websites - BUT PLEASE ASK FIRST.

I am often seen out with a camera in hand, I like to take landscapes and get an unusual angle on common subjects.

Very much an amateur, just like taking photos.

My photostream consists of a variety of images, a lot of pictures taken at National Trust and properties listed with the Historic Houses Association around the country. A lot of my images are taken at local Steam Rallies, Country fairs and somilar events, also scans of old postcards and photos of the area where I live, interesting locations I have visited while on holiday, a record of village events for other members of the community to access whenever they want, and anything else that I think will make a good picture.

All of the images in my photostream are organised into sets to help you find pictures on particular subjects CLICK HERE to view all the sets

Using my images

Recently , on several occasions, I have discovered some of my images used as illustrations on websites, and I have not been contacted for permission to use the images.

Please do not copy any of my images for use in any publication or website if you have not asked me first.

In the majority of cases where the image is for personal use, a non-commercial website or charitable uses I will not normally have a problem with the image being used, BUT please ask me first.

If you want to use an image for a commercial publication I would expect to be offered suitable remuneration for the use of the image.

In all cases I would expect the image to be credited to me as follows.....

I was born in the Sussex village of Ticehurst and have lived in the Sussex village of Etchingham for many years. I have set up a group for old photographs and postcards of Etchingham called Bygone Etchingham and a similar group for Ticehurst called Bygone Ticehurst , I have recently added a similar group Hurst Green called Bygone Hurst Green contributions of pictures to all these groups are always welcome.

I always want to hear your comments on my photos {good or bad} especially if you have any suggestion that might improve a similar shot in the future. If you have any questions regarding the location of a picture, or want any other info on a picture - just ask.

Please DO NOT invite any of my images to group with a commitment to comment on, or give an award to another picture in the group for every one that you add. I comment on images that I like because i like them, not because I have to comment on another image just to add my picture to a group.

A selection of my pictures are available to purchase as cards, postcards and prints at RedBubble, click on the link below to find out more.

Colin was one of my first contacts on Flickr. We share a passion of photography and both of us are strong believers in the philosophy that an expensive camera does not necessarily make a brilliant phot. The best photographs always come from the person behind the camera. We are also very keen on showing old photographs and postcards of our particular towns, because we feel it is important that future generations have the oppurtunity to see what our towns and villages were like many years ago. Colin is always keen to exchange ideas and I value his comments on my photos. I wish him many more years happy photography

Seeing as you seem to be short on testimonials Colin I thought I would write one for you! It's great to have someone like Colin who obviously has taken an extraordinarily long time to put together this most comprehensive website including many photographs of village life over the past 100 years. It brings back so many memories for residents of Etchingham both past and present. So well done Colin and keep up the good work.
