Terry Slade
Over three decades, Slade’s work has included the use of different media including found objects, wood, paper, stone, bronze and glass, producing works ranging in size from small objects to large indoor and outdoor installations.
The primary focus of his work has been exploring the relationship between humans and the natural world. Additionally, for over 25 years, he has been visiting, researching and documenting pre-historic monuments such as stone circles and burial chambers. These research trips throughout the British Isles and Brittany are inspired to try to understand the notion of what it means to be human.
“I am interested in the similarities of shapes, forms, and marks found in both the carved rock images and stone circle configurations and those seen in the macro and micro world, posing questions about the life on the earth, the relationships between humans and nature, and those similarities of naturally occurring forms.”
With over 100 solo exhibitions, Slade’s work has been viewed widely thought out the United States and including NYC, as well as Great Britain, France, Spain and Japan.
Terry L. H. Slade is now Artist in Residence and Professor Emeritus at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY retired 2016. He lives and works in Schenevus, NY.
