I like modeling terracotta figures, to design and to make small and great cribs, to reproduce fruit miniatures and other in wax..

Signs on the Neapolitan Crib

With this name we intend the Neapolitan crib in eighteenth-century style.

It has got Baroque roots and it absorbs the artistic appeals; then it has had the maximum splendour between 18th and first halves the 19th century to Naples capital the kingdom of the dynasty Borbone in southern Italy.

In the Neapolitan crib the scenography is realized in wood and cork paintings sametimes these materials are wrapped with paper before, the figures represent the characters and the clothes of that epoch, the accessories aren’t a simple furnishing but fundamental elements that characterize it.

The Neapolitan crèche in 18th century style is a small etnografic museum for which many artists and artisans (today as at that time) devote their mastery producing some true works of art for impassioned and collectors. Sometimes the Neapolitan Creèche is considered secular and profane matrix, where the Nativity scene seems to be little main point.

Le immagini di questo album descrivono, in parte, quello di cui mi occupo. Da quasi un ventennio sono un appassionato e modesto cultore del presepe, in particolare di quello popolare in stile '700 napoletano.

Mi diletto a modellare figure in terracotta, ideare e costruire piccoli e grandi presepi, riprodurre miniature di frutta ed altro in cera.

E' un hobby diventato quasi un lavoro che coltivo con passione e dedizione.

Cenni sul Presepe Napoletano

Con questo nome s’intende quello popolare napoletano in stile settecentesco. Esso ha radici barocche e ne assorbe le istanze artistiche e di “genere”; ebbe il massimo fulgore tra il 18° e prima metà del 19° secolo a Napoli allora capitale durante il regno della dinastia borbonica nell' Italia meridionale.

Nel presepe napoletano la scenografia è realizzata in legno e sughero dipinti talvolta questi materiali sono prima incartati, le figure rappresentano i personaggi dell’epoca con vestiture di staffa, gli accessori non sono un semplice arredo a corredo della scena ma elementi fondamentali che lo caratterizzano. Il presepe in stile ‘700 napoletano è un piccolo museo etnografico per il quale molti artisti e artigiani (oggi come allora) dedicano la loro maestria producendo delle vere opere d’arte che vanno ad arricchire anche collezioni pubbliche e private, per questo il Presepe Napoletano è considerato “artistico”, di matrice laica a volte profana, dove la scena dell’Epifania sembra essere in secondo piano.
