Drag to set position!
Iron has vast potential to please and surprise.
Un-worked it is flat, hard, straight and cold. To take a piece of this industrial material and with heat, hammer and hand transform it and create curved naturalistic forms is rewarding and challenging.
Hot forging has an immediacy and directness, which leads to spontaneous and sometimes accidental creativity. The directness of the process is endlessly fascinating
Inspired by the fluid and curvilinear forms achieved by the likes of designers and Blacksmiths Hector Guimard & Fritz Kuhn, Adrian believes that the craftsmanship of the maker should be evident in the work.
Fluidity, simplicity and functionality are his design principles.
Recently inducted into the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths as a
Journeyman member, Adrian undertook formal training at the National School of Blacksmithing, Hereford; where, in addition to a solid grounding in traditional Smithing, he was encouraged to experiment with techniques, treatments and materials
Working with materials regarded as every-day and industrial he strives to create pieces which are simple in design, exquisite in their craftsmanship and functional – a delight to use or look at everyday.
Adrian’s mission statement – To use his creativity and imagination to make beautifully crafted and skilfully made items that he and his customers can love and enjoy.
