Trinity College is the oldest of the residential colleges affiliated with the University of Melbourne, with the first student entering in 1872. From an early date, the College began to assemble ephemera and administrative records, which formed the basis of the current archival collections.

Alongside a substantial art collection, including a vibrant and eclectic collection of Australian portraiture, Trinity's Archives now document the rich and diverse aspects of the College across its three branches, ranging from the residential experience, the Theological School, and Foundation Studies Programs.

Trinity's photographic collection is an important component of the Archives, visually documenting the College's long history.
