Rail enthusiast who has been taking photos for over 60 years. I have lived in and around Chichester in West Sussex most of my life and started taking railway pictures from age 14 with a Box Brownie. Having accumulated many thousands of prints and slides, I decided in 2003 to scan them all to save space and to share them with others. There seemed little point in hoarding them where nobody could see them, so why not bore everybody else with them!

I have posted many of my earliest pictures and more taken around the time steam disappeared in the UK. There is also more recent stuff both in the UK and in Europe. I travel extensively around Europe by rail as you can see from the range of pictures posted. The oldest B&W pictures were prints as were most of the colour images from about 1997 onwards. These have scanned well. Nearly all the colour photos from 1963 to 1996 were transparencies, some 35mm (24mmx36mm), some half-frame(18mmx24mm) and a few 12 on 127 (36mmx36mm) or 12 on 120 (50mmx50mm).
