I'm from London, but now based in rural Shropshire, a long time user of Nikon equipment. The main camera of the moment is a D700. In the past I started with Nikkormats and Nikon F's, before moving to an F2, then a F4s and switched to digital with the D100. I used to develop and print both colour and black white, now I rely on scans via a Nikon Coolscan. For photo archiving and manipulation I have settled on Aperture, which may involve some compromise, but from my point of view fits best with how I like to work.
Over the years I have been to countless photographic exhibitions as I look out Galleries wherever I travel. The house is packed with photographic books. Bill Brandt's Shadow of Light was the first exhibition I attended and I still have the book, purchased at the time with my hard earned cash.
I photograph what interests me. Typically, I pick themes to follow, so as an example, when in New York recently I was particularly looking at people using mobile phones. I then try and work around the theme, using it as a starting point for a whole range of related ideas.
I am also taking an interest in the possibilities of using Go Pro cameras, both for videos and time-lapse.
More recently I have moved to rural Shropshire, which will explain why there are many more landscapes. I'm working on a project called "A tree in Shropshire" in which I use a single tree as the starting point for a series of pictures concentrating on colour in the landscape, particularly early morning light and dusk.
There is also strong interest on my part in sportswear racing, hence the Le Mans 24 hour race pictures, reflecting the highlight of the year. The photos from my participation in the 2017 Fastnet race are all taken on a iPhone, which for small scale web published work is acceptable quality.
