For me, photography is about forming relationships with my subject matter, whether it is the block that I live on, a new city, close friends, or complete strangers. The process of searching until I find a subject I want to connect with is as important to me as the final printed image. Often people experience passive relationships with their environment, seldom building a significant bond with it. When I photograph, I deeply explore a place or a person, with special attention to the details. I create a new connection each time, and come to really know my subject.

My photographs give me concrete proof that I was at a place, that I sought out that experience, and remind me of why it was important to me.
