I am a photographer. I live in Rhode Island and work wherever I am led- either by clients or destiny or pixie dust.

I specialize in fine art and commercial animal photography as well as editorial and narrative portraiture.

Here is my official bio:

Traer Scott is an award winning photographer and the bestselling author of four books including Shelter Dogs

(Merrell Publishers 2006), Street Dogs (Merrell Publishers 2007) and her newest book Newborn Puppies; Dogs in Their First Three Weeks (Chronicle Books 2013).Scott’s work has been featured in National Geographic, Life, Vogue, People, O, and dozens of other major national and international publications. Recent solo exhibitions of her work have been held in Shanghai and the Netherlands. Scott was the recipient of the 2008 Helen Woodward Humane Award for animal welfare activism and the 2010 Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Photography Fellowship Grant. Her fifth book, Nocturne: Creatures of the Night will be released by Princeton Architectural Press in Fall 2014. Scott resides in Providence, Rhode Island with her husband, daughter and pit bull.

Unofficially: I like hummus, snorkeling and sparkling wine.

I shoot with Nikons, although Shelter Dogs was shot entirely with a used 5MP Olympus Camedia point and shoot. I greatly dislike photographers who brag and boast about equipment. Most of them have mediocre vision.
