Lo there!

I live in thrilling Havant, went to Southdowns College (I *even* took Photography A-Level) and now spend my time going on 3am walks doing long exposures and light painting with my camera (Yeah, madness runs in the family). By day I'm an Satellite IT Engineer.

Travelling is my other favourite pastime and I love just hopping on a plane and arriving in another world. You could more from travelling than through any education.

...Now to find a job where I can travel to all of these places, take photo’s and get paid for it :D

Current Equipment:

Canon 6D - Such a step up from my old 5D Mkii - A fantastic travel camera.

Canon Powershot - An old one. For when my batteries have died or when I’m being more stealthy! - Pretty much indestructible!

Canon 50mm f/ 1.4 - A lens that no one should be without. This is a portrait lens and is best suited in such a role!

It’s one that I rarely use, but it’s always there when I’m in the dark (literally) or when I have pre-empted a shoot :)

Canon 24-105mm f/ 4 L - My favourite and most used lens.

This is the one that’s always bolted to the camera and the focal range lends itself to most situations splendidly. Only drawback is the relative slowness of it, but the 5D’s superb noise rendition more than makes up for it!

Bloody useful if it rains, too - Waterproofing FTW.

Canon 100-400mm L - A bit dated in design but a bloody useful lens to have alongside the 24-105. This is a travel lens.

Old Carl Zeiss Jena’s - Great little keepers from East Germany.

These have fantastic colour, good sharpness and are solidly built. Great for those occasions when you want lots of Bokeh and have plenty of time to fiddle.

Lightroom

The main piece of software that EVERYONE, whoever the photographer, should have. If you don’t have this you’re either thick or wasting tonnes of precious time!

Photomatix Pro - Forget Photoshop and any other ‘simplified’ programs, this is the one you need.

Could use bringing into the 21st century, but the ease of use makes it worth looking into :)

Photoshop - Need I say more?

Content Aware fill is awesome and I generally only use PS to edit small parts or to crop/adjust.

StarStax - Great (and incredibly speedy) little application that makes star trailing easy.

Just tell it where the files are and it’ll complete it in an instant!
