I have been making photographs since the late 1970s. My work grew up in the mountains with natural light and landscape, because that was my passion – the best photography comes from the heart. Whilst my photographic soul still resides in the mountains, Flickr and my friends here have helped me to transform my work into a daily flow of fleeting moments and deeper insights. I am now into my seventeenth consecutive year of 365ing - 6210 days and counting at the start of 2025. There are pictures in everything.
My approach to photography is very simple; it is about experiencing, feeling, sensing; immersing myself in and responding to whatever environment I find myself in. I don't go to places to photograph them; I go to experience them fully, then images follow naturally. The harder I look the less I see.
Too much photography in this ubiquitous age appears to be about the use of the camera and new tech as a substitute for experience. For this reason, I am continuing to revisit my archives, having reaffirmed my conviction that photography - especially in a body of work - is a powerful medium for storytelling and and can reveal much of our sense of self and identity.
I work as a professional coach to photographers (as well as to sports people and in business). I specialise in the research and practice of Mindfulness in photography and run mindfulness-based photography workshops in Spain called "The Joy of Seeing". You will find me presenting my work and appraising regularly to clubs and organisations across the UK.
As to my equipment, well, let me put it this way: when was the last time you asked about the baker's oven after eating a great pie?

I do have content that is visible only to Friends. I use Family for my real family and people who are personally very close to me, which means they cannot see some Friends images. Being a Flickr friend is for me based on trust, not photo content.
A Few Requests Please
1) I share my images here in a spirit of openness. Please do not abuse the privilege by using images for your own purposes in any way, including adding them as favourites just for your collection without leaving comments; a thoughtful comment is like a bird in the hand.
2) I will block anyone who disrespects in any way my images of people close to me, especially if your stream or favourites contain images I or my friends might find distasteful.
3) I always review your photostream if you follow me. It is much more likely that I will follow you too if you have something about you in your profile: your name, your likes and motivations - it is so much more rewarding to know something of the person behind the images. I will usually reciprocate Friends too.
4) Please NO GROUP INVITATIONS, nor quasi nor pseudo AWARDS, thank you

I've been following Ken's work for awhile now and I can say that he is a TRUE photographer. All of his work is Film and as we all know that film isnt easy, but he manages to pull amazing photographs from his travels and without all of the manipulation of the digital age. As his display name states, Ken is a true master of capturing the light that his soul touches and produces outstanding photographs (especially his mountain shots). Ken is a great friend and contact and is always generous with visits, and I always enjoy his daily posts of past adventures. Keep up the great work Ken!

I often spend many hours just flicking through touchingthelight's flickr photos as almost every shot inspires me and probably others alike, every shot is different and has its own unique appeal in which your mind becomes totaly lost in wonder and amazement. I found touchingthelight after searching through flickr for shots for my group that best show the passion that people have for British National Parks, his photos shows this passion in a very deep and meaningful way. Most of the shots he has taken are before the era of Digital photography and due to this you get the feeling of an amazing raw talent which needs no photoshop in order for this to be revealed, this now tends to be a rare wonder in modern photography. Touchingthelight is one of-a-kind, and is undoubtedly one of the best photographers on Flickr and definately my favourate photographer in the world (in or out of flickr). I recommend that if you have a few or more hours in which you are not doing anything, surf through his shots and I guarantee you will come out feeling uplifted and enlightened. Time viewing his shots will be time well spent! Thanks Ken, you inspire many! Mark O'Gorman
