The Toronto Design Nerds is a new group in Toronto, modeled after the fun and fantastic Vancouver Design Nerds . The concept is to create and nurture a network of designers, artists and others interested in design, community and collaboration who desire to engage in design thinking and design opportunities with a spirit of collaboration and creative play, and to challenge the normative environment of their city. Diversity enriches the design process and propels discussion far beyond the prescribed parameters of a project, revealing opportunities and unanticipated, often surprising results.

Design Nerd members tend to be active in the fields of architecture, green building, urban design, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, engineering, fine arts, photography, pedal technology, sculpture, policy, sustainability, artificial intelligence, theatre, renewable energy, fashion, dance, film, community development, zombies, cycling, good food, fine drink and more. Being a member needn't be a burdensome commitment - it should be fun! Nerds can be as involved or peripheral as they like, but typically a "member" is someone who has participated in at least one "nerd jam" and one collaborative project with others in the group.
