A Londoner by birth, I now call Malvern, Worcestershire my home. I'm married to Janet and I have two daughters Laura (28) and Caitriona (23)
I bought my first camera, a Kodak instamatic, when I was still a kid, and it suited me fine right up until I was 21. That year I went visiting relatives in the US and had a play about with my cousin David's Nikkormat. That was it, I was hooked on serious photography.
As soon as I got home, I bought my first SLR, a Chinon. Within a year I had progressed to a Canon AE-1. Since then I've owned an AE-1 Program (still got it), two Minolta Dynax 7000is and a Pentax P30, which I bought for a trip to Thailand. In 2006, after nearly 20 years dependable service, I sold my Minoltas to my little sister and bought my first digital SLR, a Nikon D50, a great little camera which I've since given to my daughter Laura. I currently use an old D300, which I bought in 2008, with a mixture of Sigma and Nikon lenses.
Currently semi-retired from software engineering, travelling far and wide, which gives me a great deal of pleasure.
I joined Flickr back in July 2007, and I must say that I have found it an inspiration. There are so many talented photographers out there. Many thanks to all of you out there in Flickrland for your kind comments. Respect!
