I am a retired graphic designer. Ran my own printing and graphics business since 1963. Did enjoy gardening, woodwork, cruising my narrow-boat. Health does not permit those activities now so I am just a layabout ;-)
In 1954 I started out as a window dresser (Display Man) and what I do now is the same thing but in a different medium.
Being creative is what drives me. Well, it gives me something to do - if I am twiddling my fingers I must be thinking something really profound. If I am not twiddling my fingers I will be doing something else. I used to paint and draw and had an art shop at one time.
In the 1980's technology drove me to digital design but mainly vector and 3D art. I am now getting lazy in my old age and thought that getting a decent camera meant just pressing a button and there it was, lazy art.
How wrong was I. Flickr is amazing in the variety of images subjects topics effects etc. It is variety that is fascinating to me; it is the spice of life, the essence of dreams and the inspiration for ideas. You will find therefore that the stuff (I won't call it art) I upload here, is a complete mish-mash of subjects. If you are looking for something in particular you may just have to trawl through my dross.
It says above that I joined in 2009. In fact it was much earlier than that but a glitch occurred somewhere. I have to thank my son Howard Dickins for encouraging me to pursue Flickr.
I like to write as well and if you enjoy stupid humour you might like my silly pages called the Groanzone:

Your comments and critique are welcome however please avoid garish icons and animations. Invites are also appreciated though I tend not to add to those groups requiring like for like or many comments.
Reciprocity is grand but it does not serve to benefit anyone with enforced icon posting. Genuine comments are far more valuable when given willingly.
I hope you enjoy my images.
Thank you for viewing.
