Many of the images I will post are from film I shot from my beginnings in 1969 thru a twenty year run that ended in 1990. In 2004 after an almost 15 year hiatus, I returned to photography. Only a handful of the B&Ws have been printed. I first saw positive images of most when I began to archive my negatives as digital files in 2011. There were a few surprises in store, but the images stored in my visual memory were pretty much faithful to those I now view on a computer screen. I talked with practically every child I photographed. I still remember the names. I feel a strong affinity for candid images so I’d no inclination to direct subjects. Almost without exception, the kids in my photographs enhanced the streets and playgrounds of Chicago and Richmond, Virginia.
