I became serious with photography only since September 2010 but I have been involved with picture taking very early. I used an SLR since I was 14 and that was more than 40 years ago. I did take a photography course in college but largely I'm a self-taught amateur photographer. Photography rules and concept came easily and naturally to me.
I love bright colors and high contrast in my photographs.
I live in Huntington Beach, Ca and therefore have easy access to the beaches and the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. I also favor the Huntington Beach Central Park which is within walking distance of my house. You'll find most of my photos are taken in these areas.

I've known Hank thru flickr and gradually we became friends. He's the one that not only is a great mentor but also leads me to wild life photography. His photo stream is a proof of his photography talent. A must see.
Tongho58 is the best bird-in-flight photographer in my flickr world!

Although I've never met Hank in person, we've been Flickr friends for a few years now. And, through Hank's fabulous photostream and many, many of his sensational images, I feel like we've been buddies for years... Through his wonderful lenses, Hank always manages to bring the wild world of feathers up close to his viewers' desktops. Browsing through Hank's photostream, one can easily find pictures of mallards, cormorants, blue herons among many other butterflies, birds and bees in action. Hank always catches these flying creatures in various motions that leave me mesmerized on how he actually does that. And, frankly, I'm convinced that Hank has mastered the art of capturing bird-in-flight, both feather and feather-less... Take his vast collection of hummingbird images for example, Hank usually snaps all of them in such close proximity that one can almost imagine to touch the image and feel the fine and gorgeous feathers or one can senses the buzzes from the birds' ultra-fast flapping wings. Not only that, Hank never forgets to identify the different breeds of the amazing birds too. So, as a viewer, I always feel informed while enjoying Hank's beautiful images. As an excellent photographer that he is, Hank proves to be very knowledgeable and always eager to share his bags of tricks too. Viewers and visitors to Hank's Flickr stream can easily find information on camera/equipment settings or his many techniques to snap awesome images. Any amateur photographer may find that Hank's images are so challenging to capture, but for sure, he/she will finds them all so inspiring that he/she will strive to make the most of the next frame snapped. Personally, I'm looking forward to many more years of viewing Hank's Flickr stream filled with breathtaking images.
