Her street shooting is only rivaled by her creativity in capturing her subjects living LIFE. She is what i consider to be the premier street photographer. Her passion for the art of photography comes through in each and every shot she posts. Her work is so different from my own and i think that is why i like it so much. I have been following Cheryls work for a while now and I have loved how her work just keeps getting better and better. Cheryl has a great eye for photography which is why you see new pictures all the time from still life,street photography,abstract and colour just to mention a few. I'm particularly drawn to Cheryls street photography capturing people with wonderous and unposed expressions, her confidence to just approach strangers and ask to take their pictures really inspires me. In the past year, I have become very familiar with the work of Cheryl Atkins (a.k.a. “Tomkitty”). While looking at Cheryl’s work, I get the feeling that I am really getting an intimate insight of the personal qualities she possesses that make her images so special. Cheryl takes hard hitting journalistic quality images that really make you think and perhaps put yourself in the shoes of her subjects, but her talent isn’t limited to a single aspect. She has also ventured outside of that journalistic realm and taken beautiful photos of nature, landscapes, and some of my favorites are the shots that no one else sees that are completely odd, which perhaps makes them most interesting. (She tells me there is no place like Baltimore for odd) Cheryl is sensitive, brave, artistic and possibly most important, she’s willing to take a chance and be unconventional. That approach alone has blessed her with images that make us think, make us laugh and make us cry. According to Jim, Valvano, those are the three most important things to do every single day. In simplest terms, Cheryl is very talented, whether she realizes it or not. Thank you Cheryl; your photos have often helped complete my days and make them perfect!
