I became an avid photographer in high school, shooting and developing my own B&W work using a Pentax MX (what a lovely camera it was, though I still longed for an Olympus OM2 at the time). As I grew and my life expanded, my photography diminished until about 17 years ago when my first child was born and I dove right back in, starting with both film (Nikon F100) and one of the fist commercial, consumer digital still cams, the Sony DSC 1 (yes, in Japanese mind you).
I've gone through a series of digital cameras, starting with the venerable Nikon D70 and now shooting regularly with my Nikon D300. Along the way, I've happily shot with a Canon Powershot S50.and a Samsung NV-11, which provide lots of pixels in the pocket, but little focal length variety or exposure control.
So, I shoot a lot of pics of my kids while they're still little, but also try to shoot interesting landscapes, the "hand of man" shots and and interesting cultural reflections animate or not. Portraiture and lighting are two interests I am pursuing in depth and am willing to provide prints to willing portrait sitters who are willing to help me develop my craft in return for what I produce. Drop me a line if you're interested.
I still do large format and medium format, particularly for formal sittings (scanned film - still can't afford a 4x5 Leaf back!). And I'm start to play a lot more with HDR and Strobist style lighting.
I primarily shoot Nikon:
