I'm a telecom consultant. I come to Flickr mostly to see other people's work. I spend my day creating and understanding patents on complex telecommunication and Internet systems. The worth of these systems is based, primarily, on their ability to foster effective collaboration among people. Contrary to what many think then these systems are not about computers or communication protocols. They are about the way human beings come together to collaborate. Photography, or at least the photography that moves me, is likewise. is not about the technical aspects of image capture. it is about capturing what the camera can see but cannot understand. It is about the relationship of the subject to the viewer. Even if the image contains no human beings, it exists in the mind of the human being who is seeing it. Good technology is like that.
