I was Raised in Kenya, Mauritius and Aberdeenshire, and am now living in Leith, Edinburgh. I must have started taking photos when I was about 6 or 7, encouraged by my Dad. this was on an ancient little Kodak 126 camera, which had been passed down from my older brothers and sisters. I still have the prints from those days and they are treasured memories.

In my early teens I saved up and bought my first SLR, a Fujica STX1-n, a simple manual camera which I could attach my Dad's old M42 screw lenses to (via an adapter), and gave me a solid grounding in basic techniques. Later, at University, I bought 2 Minolta bodies second hand (7000i and 8000i), so I could keep B&W film in one all the time. Much of my work was B&W, which I processed and printed myself.

I switched to digital in 2003 and love it. I always shoot RAW to maximise the dynamic range and scope for good post-processing.

Current equipment:

Canon 5DMkII

Canon 17-40 f/4 L USM

Canon 24-105 f/4L IS USM

Canon 70-200 f/4 L IS USM

Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX macro

Canon 10-22 f3.5-4.5 EFS (sold)

I print on an Epson R3000 A3 printer, and my favourite paper is Hahnemuhle German Etching and Fotospeed Natural Soft Textrued.

I am an active member of the Edinburgh Photographic Society which I credit for much that I have learned about composition and technique. Through the support and encouragement of its members I was successful in gaining my Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in June 2006, with a panel of 15 prints on the theme of 'Rocks in the Landscape'

I try to sell the odd photo or print to offset costs (see my website), and also sell images on Alamy and Photographers Direct, but above all I take photos for the sheer FUN of creativity!

Please feel free to critique my photos- I welcome all constructive criticism and feel we should do more on Flikr, not only in the critique groups. This is how we improve... I will do likewise to others if I think it appropriate.

I also sell my images, either for publication or as cards or prints on the aforesaid lovely archival Fine Art papers.

See my website or contact me for details.
