Hello, my name is Travis. I have discovered the wonderful world of photography and my passion grows with every shutter release. I am also an avid amateur astronomer and can be found almost every clear night gazing at the heavens. I figure it is only a matter of time before these two hobbies merge into astrophotography. During the day I am employed as a mechanical engineer. I am a husband and father of two. I enjoy viewing the quality images from the many talented photographers on flickr. I have learned a lot and look forward to viewing more wonderful images and improving my own phototgraphy.

I have taken countless pictures since writing the paragraph above when I first joined Flickr. I still have the excitement I felt when I first tossed the idea around of venturing into photography. I have learned that real photographers do not take pictures-they MAKE pictures. I don’t consider myself a photographer. That might imply I actually know what I am doing, but I understand the effort that goes into creating a good photograph. This effort has nothing to do with the brand name on the camera strap or how many megapixels are packed into the sensor. This effort is a combination of knowledge, technique and commitment. My photo stream is a continuous evolution of those hallmarks. Most of my shots are what I encounter day to day in my neck of the woods. My subjects are not always the most interesting, but it is fun trying to take the ordinary and turning it into a Picture. I hope you enjoy my photo stream and please offer your criticism.
