The Tennessee Department of Transportation, or TDOT, is a multimodal agency with responsibilities in highways, aviation, public transit, waterways and railroads. Our involvement ranges from building and maintaining our highways to airport improvements, funding public transit and planning for river ports.

The Department of Transportation has approximately 3,900 employees with four statewide region facilities in Jackson, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville. TDOT's headquarters is located in downtown Nashville.
