Terry passed away in mid August of 2017. We wanted to post a final photograph/message to let his community of fellow photographers know this sad news. He truly valued the Flickr community's commentary on his work.

Wishing you all peace, The Williams Family.

IN THIS OWN WORDS...

I love the natural environment and enjoy sharing my nature and landscape photos. I'm very concerned with protecting and preserving the health of our natural world.

My interest in photography was inspired by my father, an avid amateur photographer who loved taking photos of flowers.

I am a "graduate" of the 35mm film range-finder and single-lens reflex cameras. My first 35mm camera was an old Kodak range-finder--I believe it was a Kodak 35 with 50mm lens--which I used during my high school and college years. My first 35mm film SLR was a Praktina II-A with 50mm lens, followed by a Pentax Super Program with Tokina 35-70mm and 70-210mm lenses and a Ricoh KR-30 SP Program w/ 50mm lens. As of July, 2017 I'm currently using two DSLR cameras: a Sony Alpha SLT A58 and a Sony ILCA77II.

When 35mm film SLRs were being displaced by digital cameras, I was hesitant to try the new digital SLRs. My first experience with digital photography was a 4 MP point-and-shoot Olympus Stylus 400m, which produced amazingly decent photos. But I missed the functions and capabilities of the single-lens-reflex camera and inter-changeable lenses. Thanks to some prompting from my son Sean, I decided it was time to get a digital SLR, and purchased a Sony Alpha SLT-A58.

I like the challenge of using the camera to capture and format my photos, and what I shoot is what I see. Except for an occasional photo-crop, I generally resist editing or "photo-shopping" my images.

When using my digital SLR I'm reminded that, regardless of how modern the equipment, capturing quality photographs requires accumulated experience, imagination, perseverance, patience . . . and sometimes a bit of luck.

I'm continually amazed at the infinite number and variety of beautiful photographs we can view on Flickr and other internet sites every day, and yet each one is different!

In addition to photography I enjoy road bicycling, mountain biking, hiking, downhill skiing, camping and canoeing. I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music, including Classical, Choral Classical, New Age Jazz, Folk, Celtic and Bluegrass music.
