I consider myself to be a naturalist who happens to take photographs of wildlife rather than a proper wildlife photographer. I always try to write something about my photographs to explain why I thought it was worth taking and uploading. I also dabble in landscape photography but I don't really "get" landscapes like I "get" wildlife. I'm based in Yorkshire, and take most of my photographs in the north of England, but I also travel abroad quite a bit to photograph wildlife.

I've only had the pleasure of knowing Tim here for a short time, but I can state with confidence that Tim is an asset to Flickr through his willingness to help others - reading through Tim's numerous testimonies is proof that it is not just me - with animal identification and his encyclopaedic knowledge of birds is truly astounding! I am grateful to Flickr for this opportunity to have met Tim, and I hope Flickr is grateful for having Tim - along with his priceless photostream - as an ambassador.

I've only recently come to know Tim, but what a nice guy. Tim is certainly not averse to supporting with identification of species when I get stumped and I really appreciate this. His images are always of top quality and a pleasure to view. He really is a credit to Flickr and helps to make this platform what it is.

This is the first testimonial I have written on Flickr in ten years of regular use. Initially it was Tim's photography that attracted me to his wildlife photos, but as I have delved deeper into the respective photographs they are all enhanced through the inclusion of some superb supporting information. I am only a beginner when it comes to wildlife photos so there is a great deal I should be able to learn from Tim. My only wish would be that Tim would show his exif data which would allow me to try and interpret the camera settings used to obtain his superb results.

Tim refers to himself as being a naturalist, who happens to take photographs, rather than being a proper wildlife photographer. Anyone taking the time to look through his wonderful photo stream will be left in no doubt that he is indeed a proper wildlife photographer and a very talented and prolific one at that. A beautifully taken photograph is only half the story here though, as it’s not until you open each post individually that you fully appreciate the treasure trove of detailed information that lies behind each image. Tim’s expert knowledge is hugely evident in all of his carefully written narratives, as is his enthusiasm for the subject, which is truly inspirational and sets a benchmark for others to aspire to. Tim has been a Flickr contact of mine for around ten years now, from way back when my own photography was very much in its infancy. A little point & click camera limited my capabilities at that time, but Tim never failed to offer a handy tip, help with an ID, or just offer a kind word of encouragement. Generous in the extreme, given the quality of my images, but things that were totally invaluable to me, as someone struggling to get a foothold in the hobby. We’ve never met, but I look forward to the possibility of our paths crossing one day. It would be good to shake his hand & thank him for his support and encouragement in person. In the meantime, keep those wonderful photographs coming, Tim, along with those fabulous narratives. All the very best, Steve

I have never been moved to write a testimonial before but I feel that one is due for Tim. I have only just discovered him and started following his work. He is an excellent nature photographer but what sets him apart from the many excellent nature photographers on Flickr is that he takes the time to write about each photograph, giving details of the taking of the image and also background information about the subject. When I look at one of his photographs, I not only have the pleasure of seeing a wonderful image but I also come away having learned something.
