Sometime photographer, sometime traveler, sometime poet, full time curmudgeon. I hate to over sell. Here you'll find only the best of what I believe I've captured. I won't have albums with 65 pictures I took of my dog. You may see him, a time or two. But I won't rub your nose in him. One could say that this is one way I beat back death, I hope long after I am gone these thoughts and photos will float the digital reservoir of information.

When I was about 12 years old, I took a class where I developed my first roll of black & white film. I remember taking it out of the tank and thinking it was blank until I unspooled it and saw the "magic" for the first time. I was hooked. Within a year I had a darkroom under my parent's basement steps and discovered the world of photography for real.

That was about 50 years ago. Improvements in digital cameras, software and cell phones have eclipsed the art of old school photography. I remember when one good shot from a roll of 36 was acceptable. One GREAT shot every now and again was the norm. Now a good picture can be had by any novice regardless of experience, computers take care of the rest.

These days it's not uncommon for me to take 1,500 shots in a single outing and I like that part of digital photography because it's "Free" and I can be choosy, but it still seems dry sometimes. Peering at a negative in a darkroom light seemed more human.

Just sayin' . . .
