Drag to set position!
Amongst other things, I have been interested in railways on and off since I was a small boy in the Black Country, my memories of steam being of the "dirty black engine" variety. I became a train spotter in 1967/8 only to lose the interest until the early 1970's when I was persuaded to take up the hobby again. Sadly I was unable to afford decent camera equipment and the costs of processing until the late 1970's by which time an interest in music and motorcycles had kicked in and that, not to mention marital commitments, means that I have very few photo's taken before the mid1980's. From that time on I have been a sporadic photographer at best, fitting in with work, financial and family commitments has left vast gaps in my record. These days I use an Olympus E510 DSLR along with a super tough Nikon 5200 compact which slips in the pocket, having moved away from film in the mid 2000's. Oh how I wish I could take one of them back with me in that time machine that I know someone will invent very soon.
These days I live on the south coast at Swanage in Dorset and spend a good deal of my spare time as a volunteer on the Swanage Railway which allows me access to areas that the public are unable to visit.. I formerly worked in Export/Import f but took the opportunity to take early retirement in 2008, best move I ever made!
