Hello!
My name is Jacqueline Bolton. I'm a busy mom, fiery Aries, non stop dreamer, music lover, book worm and avid sewist...I'm usually found in my home studio sewing my fingers to the bone!
For as long as I can remember I have loved to sew.
My first memory of sewing was when I was about 11 years old. At that time I lived in Ireland and attended a school run by nuns. There learning to sew was considered just as important as learning the ABCs and 123s. I quite vividly remember sitting in the school room with needle in hand learning to hand sew an apron. I remember trying so hard to make all my stitches the same length and distance apart.
The other more intriguing part of that memory involves the fabric. It was of purple paisley. My minds eye can still see the design of the fabric. My fingers can still feel its weight. The fabric was bought in a shop in Dublin where I walked in a trance around the bolts of fabric on display...so many designs, colors, textures. My senses still recall the sounds and the smell of the shop.
The creation of that apron must have had a big effect on me subconsciously because today, many years later, I still feel the same thrill as I did then when I enter a fabric shop. Perhaps that memory also explains why today I am a woman who much prefers a closet jammed full of fabric than one full of shoes! I ask you am I normal? Is there anyone else out there like me?
