Hello. Hope you enjoy some of my shots. I've always been into photography since about 12. I took quite a few shots in my early years which have mostly disappeared. In my teens and early 20s I started to experiment and then for many years I just took snaps.

Children came along and of course they became the centre of focus for many shots, but then only friends and family are really interested in those. Digital cameras rekindled my enthusiasm for experimentation and the discovery of Flickr even more so. I uploaded my shots here at the start, the best of recent years and then realised – I must try harder. So with so many high standard photos on Flickr, I hope to improve and display them here.

I bought my first Digital camera in July 2002, a Nikon Coolpix 5700, which was stolen. I upgraded to the 8700 in 2004 and then finally shelled out in May 2008 for a D300 with an 18-200m all-rounder lens and I haven't looked back.

Please feel free to criticise all you want, in fact I would appreciate criticism. You learn most by making mistakes!

Sept 2009:

I look back through my stream and I think (hopefully!) I see some improvement from 2008 onwards. Mostly this is being part of Flickr and observing people, trying out new techniques, learning from others. Digital format and the instant ability to review your own work has accelerated my learning process immeasurably. It is quite amazing to me how photograpy has been transformed into this instant medium and how it has been opened up to so many individuals.

Some of the contacts I have made here are wonderful and amazing people and great photographers. Thanks everyone for all your input and help you have given me.

Neil

One of the things I really admire about Neil's photostream has to be the sheer diversity of it... From landscape through animals right the way up to the sheer abstract... He's got it all going on... and always with a fair spattering of good natured humour thrown in to the mix as well.. Definitely someone very much with my own motives in mind, and that is to do what we love to do, but without taking ourselves too seriously... Keep em coming mate, and I'm right behind you for the "Diddy men" vacancy... ;)
