Profession: computer geek

Hobbies: History, art/science/maritime/trains/airplane/etc museums, zoos, building models, goin' places and takin' pictures of stuff...

I learned photography back in the 80s with my father's Pentax ME Super (I still have it, and it still works!). I tried most of the Pentax M-, A- and P-series film cameras at one time or another, plus a couple of the auto-focus bodies. In the digital age, I've used Pentax entry- and mid-level dSLRs (Not because I'm such a Pentax fanboy - more because I'm cheap and I could keep using my old lenses!). I never could justify the expense of switching brands / upgrading to top-of-the-line for the kind of shutterbugging I do.

The vast majority of my flickr pictures are in my armor or museum collections, which are really driven by the collector's urge to get everything, rather than the photographer's desire to capture truly great images. However, every once in a while, when the light is good and my eyes aren't tired and I'm in the right mindset and I haven't forgotten to check my camera settings, I take something that could almost pass for a photograph.
