The Wireless Press
Drag to set position!
Inspired by a collection of print produced by St. Dominic's Press at Ditchling Museum, England I set about learning letterpress. My work is largely autobiographical, and is influenced by posters from the Bauhaus, Situationist graffiti, and philosophical writings.
I work from my tiny shed on a hilltop on the edge of Brighton, England.
I'm old school - I don't design on a computer. I respond to physical type, moving it around until I am happy with how it looks. I hope there is evidence of the relationship between the heart, the hand and the eye in my work. I use a French 1960s poster press, an Adana 8x5, and vintage type.
'Moreover, in my ignorance, I thought any fool could print'. Hilary Pepler (founder member of St. Dominic's Press with Eric Gill).
All posters are A1. I use Somerset Arches mould made cotton rag paper 280gsm. Each sheet has 2 deckle edges, top and bottom. Posters are limited editions of 100, signed and numbered.
